Benjamin Garcia is a trombonist and bass trombonist based in Lakewood, Colorado. Ben performs regularly across the front range with ensembles such as the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, the Denver Philharmonic, the Flatirons Jazz Orchestra, and the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra of Denver. Ben studied at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he was awarded full tuition through the Evans Scholarship program. Growing up in Lakewood, Ben received a fellowship with the Denver Young Artist Orchestra in 2015, and then went on to serve as acting principal trombone for the Denver Philharmonic Tour of China in 2016. After graduation he went on to study bass trombone at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. During that time he was a semi-finalist in for the 2021 Southeast Trombone Symposium Orchestral Excerpts competition. In addition to performance, Ben is a practicing teacher and coaches trombone at Legacy and Lakewood High Schools, also acting as a guest teacher in Jefferson County and a golf instructor at Applewood Golf Course. His principal music teachers are Denson Paul Pollard, William Stanley, and Paul Naslund. When not teaching or performing, Ben enjoys golf, chess, and fly-fishing.
