Santiago received his undergraduate degree in Voice Performance from the University of North Texas in the Spring of 2017. During his studies there he performed with UNT Opera in roles such as Goro, in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Remendado in Bizet's Carmen, Don Curzio in Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, Liberto in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea, and Hermann in Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann, among others. In addition to opera Mr. Gutierrez Herrera is an avid performer of contemporary genres. In 2016 he was commissioned by the Canadian progressive metal band Archipelago to perform as lead singer in their single If there is an end. Most recently Santiago completed his a Master's degree in Voice Performance from Colorado State University, where he performed his duties as appointed Graduate Voice Teaching Assistant, providing voice instruction to non-music majors. During his time with the CSU Ralph Opera program he performed the role of Pierre in Gustav Holst’s The wandering scholar, La Tethrière in Maurice Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortileges, and Frederick in Pirates of Penzance, and Giussepe Palmieri in Gondoliers by Gilbert & Sullivan.
