Mónica “Nico” Maldonado started playing piano at the age of five and continued to learn more about music, guitar, and bass guitar throughout middle and high school After pursuing their Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2014 they never stopped teaching. Mónica has been teaching music for a total of 15 years, with an additional year of student teaching in a public school setting as a student-teacher. This helped Mónica achieve a firm grasp on the art of teaching music in the 1-on-1, small group, and classroom settings. Mónica believes that every child can become a musician and artist, and that all learners deserve a well-planned, differentiated music education. In addition to teaching music, they also enjoy writing and performing as a bassist throughout Colorado with their indie rock bands. Mónica’s greatest desire as a music educator is that each of their students develop a deep appreciation for music, as well as enjoy the music they create and play.
