Dr. Linda Shea is a clarinetist, pianist, educator, conductor and entrepreneur. She earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts in clarinet performance and pedagogy from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2008. Her Masters Degree in clarinet performance is from the University of Northern Colorado which followed directly after her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Lamont School of Music (at the University of Denver.) Piano was Linda’s first and primary instrument for the first 12 years, starting lessons at age 7. She played many recitals growing up including performing Debussy’s “L’Isle Joyeuse” from memory on her senior recital in high school. At DU’s Lamont School of Music, Linda was awarded piano, clarinet and honors scholarships, spending much of her time playing piano for various junior, senior and honors recitals. Linda’s performing career on clarinet has mostly been as a member of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, in addition to other orchestras such as Greeley Philharmonic, Fort Collins Symphony, Colorado Symphony Orchestra (extra clarinet and bass clarinet) and the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra.
