Elliott Elder

Elliott Elder was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1999 and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2017, he moved to Boulder, Colorado, to pursue his passion for American music. At the University of Colorado Boulder, he studied bass in the Thompson Jazz Studies Program, where he developed a deep appreciation for jazz—an art form rooted in the heart of American history and culture. During his time at CU Boulder, Elliott performed original compositions with his ensemble and recorded his own work at Mighty Fine Productions as part of his senior recital project.

While in college, he also collaborated with fellow musicians to write and record a progressive rock album titled Edgewater under the band name Animal Soup. He graduated in 2021 with a B. A. in Jazz Bass Performance.

Since graduating, Elliott has built a dynamic career as a performing and recording artist, educator, and composer. He is currently the touring bassist for Eddie Turner & Trouble and regularly performs locally with The Custom Shop Band, The Boulder Dinner Theater, The Jefferson Unitarian Worship Band, and a variety of jazz trios and pop ensembles. As an internationally touring bassist, Elliott has performed with artists and groups including Extra Gold, Eddie Turner & Trouble, and The Johnny O Band. In 2024, he was invited to join Paul Beaubrun (of Arcade Fire) for a fundraising performance supporting the nonprofit organization Locally Haiti.

With Extra Gold, he has opened for nationally recognized acts such as Charley Crockett, Chaparelle, Andy Frasco & The U. N. , and Gasoline Lollipops. Whether performing rock, jazz, or genre-blending contemporary music, Elliott feels a deep connection to the lineage and spirit of American music.

When not on tour, he performs throughout the Boulder area and enjoys working with the next generation of musicians.
