Emily has been involved in music her entire life. She grew up in Fallbrook, California and began taking piano lessons at age 4. She went on to participate in classical piano competitions. Always having had a natural ear for pitch and harmony, she started singing and songwriting at a young age.
She also took guitar lessons, joined rock bands, and sang in choirs. Emily moved to Colorado to attend CU Boulder, where she studied music composition, piano, and astrophysics. While in college, she studied piano under Dr. Andrew Cooperstock and composition under Dr.
Carter Pann, gaining invaluable knowledge and experience that strengthened her musical background. She also sang in Choral Ensemble, was a percussionist in Concert Band, and composed pieces that were performed by professional musicians at CU Pendulum concerts and beyond. Now graduated, she spends all of her work life and free time pursuing music in all different avenues. Emily is the bassist, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter in local all-female rock band The Galentines.
They play all over Colorado and have a professional national tour planned later this year. Emily is a teacher at heart. She truly believes that music flourishes in collaboration. Sharing her knowledge with the next generation and her peers is something she is incredibly grateful to be able to do.
