Brazilian pianist Victoria Paulino de Souza was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 2001. Since the age of seven, she has been an active performer and competition winner. In 2009, Victoria Paulino performed in the opening concert at the Legislative Assembly Theater of Minas Gerais, Brazil. After winning the “Young Musician” BDMG Cultural Competition and receiving an award in the IV National Young Highlight Competition in 2009, Victoria Paulino went on to win the 2012 Lang Lang & Telefônica Competition, becoming the only Brazilian selected to play with this pianist at the O2 Arena in Berlin, Germany. Since then, Victoria has participated in various music festivals, such as Oregon Piano, Ian Hobson, Saramenha Artes e Oficios, and Pianofest in the Hamptons. In 2017, Paulino was awarded first prize at the Yamaha National Piano Competition. In 2021, she won the Parnassus Music International Competition, Latin American edition, where she competed against eligible pianists up to 25 years old from Latin American countries. She took first prize in the Young Artist Category, “Hans Lewitus,” and the prize for the best interpretation of a work by J.S. Bach, given by esteemed pianist Roger Woodward. In 2022 she was the recipient of the Seidler Award for research. In 2024 she was the winner of the AMTA Concerto Competition, and the AMTA Solo Graduate Division. Victoria Paulino received her Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from Florida Gulf Coast University and her Master’s in Piano Performance from the University of Alabama, studying with Dr. Kevin Chance. Now she is pursuing her DMA at CU Boulder with Dr. Jennifer Hayghe.
