Austin’s piano journey has been far from traditional. He began playing piano at age 10 to participate in a rock band with his brothers. For his first five years of playing, Austin refused to learn sight-reading and picked up music primarily by ear. Jerry is a Master of Music student majoring in jazz composition at the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours degree from St. Francis Xavier University in Canada. As a jazz composer, Jerry’s works had performed by various ensembles of UNC, including Jazz Lab Band I, II, and III, and the Spectrum Studio Orchestra.
